Sweets &Treats: Cupcake Liners and Straws Review!

Birthday parties are a ton of fun! It brings family and friends close and everyone gets to have fun while celebrating that special birthday boy or girl.My daughter's birthday was no exception! We had tons of family and friends over and everyone had a great time!

They can get costly though, very costly! Save a little money by making your own cupcakes/cake! I decided to make cupcakes because we were going to have plenty of kids over and I wanted to save myself the hassle of cutting and serving cake to everyone. Cupcakes were just more pratical for me.

They were high quality products and I was surprised how great they really were! I still am!

I had never used  paper party straws before and was unsure what I should expect, but they were thick and I didn't have any problem using them at all. My daughter found them to be "perfect" as she says.  Half of them were used for the kids to drink out of and the other half I used for the Rice Krispy Treats. 

I simply cut the straws in half and inserted them into the bottom of the rice krispy treat to serve as a  holder.  Surprisingly, they didn't bend or break. They held up really well.

The cupcake liners were easy to use. They matched our theme perfectly and the colors didn't run.  Normally when you use cupcake liners, the color will fade on the liners as the cupcakes are baking. NOT with these! the color was still bring and vibrant.  Not only does this save you time, but it saves you money as well because you don't have to double up on liners to keep the great look.

(sorry for the lack of picture, the cupcakes went faster than I could snap.. I have to make more this weekend and will add in more pics of the liners )

Minnie Mouse Candy Baggies! #Minnie Mouse Birthday Bash!

Having a pinata was a ton of fun. For the kids and adults!

I couldn't put a lot of candy in the pinata though because it only held 2lb of candy so I made small baggies of candy to give out as well.

I got small baggies from my local store and drew Minnie Mouse on each of them. In the center of Minnie I placed the number 4 since Des was turning 4. I then placed candy in each bag making sure the bags were all the same.

Everyone loved the bags and they were super easy to make. It helped avoid kids fighting over candy so much as well. Don't be scared to get fancy and add ribbon to the bags or tags as well. I just didn't have enough time to do all the fancy stuff, but I wish I had because they were a huge hit!

Kellogg's Rice krispy Treats House Party!

Rice Krispy Treats are among the top favorites in my household. Everyone loves them. Of course, I couldn't turn down the opportunity to  add them into my daughter's Minnie Mouse Birthday Party!

Here's all the fun we had!

Des loves working in the kitchen so of course she wanted to help make her Minnie mouse treats.

It was so much fun to be in the kitchen with my little angel. I wanted to add witch hats to them in honor of Halloween, but the minnie mouse was hard enough to do, so we decided not to. 

They were a huge hit at the party. Party pics will be up later in a different post :)

Happy Birthday My Love!

By now you all have realized we have been celebrating a special birthday with the Minnie Mouse Birthday Bash.We  celebrated her Birthday on the 27th, but her birthday is actually today... I have posted tons of reviews and still have a few more to get up, but I wanted to take a moment to recognize the special young lady who makes this day special to me. 

Destiny!

It's hard to believe that 4 years ago today I brought the most wonderful little girl into this world. That moment changed so much for me. It made me grow up, it made me a better person. It showed me just how much one choice can change EVERYTHING!

I never knew what love was until the moment I looked into her eyes. She is so very special to me. 

I don't know where my life would have led me without her,

 but I do know that it's better because of her.  

She is my life! I found my love of crafts because of her. I found my love for the color pink with her. I found the love for life because of her. She is simply amazing!

She's perfect!

Her favorite food is chicken nuggets and fries.

Her favorite color is pink and purple.

Her favorite saying is "because I said so"

(even though the last 2 weeks it's been "I want this for my birthday")

Her favorite show is Mickey Mouse or Doc McStuffins.

Her favorite shoes are her pink boots.

Her favorite toy is her kitchen and play register.

Her "best friends" are Cameron and Tona.

She loves reading books and reads each night before bed.

She is excited for school..(even though it's breaking my heart.)

She is in love with ballet and singing.

She can count to 20 and count backwards from 20 as well.

She knows her AbC's.

She  has started to write a little.

She likes puzzles- which reminds me of myself

She laughs and brings joy to everyone around her.

She is so polite and always thinks of others.

She loves legos and bubbles.

She adores tinkerbell and will watch it everyday all day if you let her. 

These are just some of my favorite things about her at this very moment, but there is so much about her that brings me joy. 

The mere sound of her laugh brings a smile to my face. 

There's really not enough words to describe how much I love her and how important she is to me.

It has maintained the perfect bow shape since day one, even after multiple wearings.

Des has gotten so many compliments from this bow. Everyone  stops and comments her on it. It's great to know we have found a bow a beautiful as she is.

Minnie Mouse Bow Review #Minnie Mouse Birthday Bash

It's so much fun to raise little girls. There are tons of ways to make them happy. Playing dress-up, makeup, shoes, clothes, jewelry, etc. There are many things that make little girls happy! The top 5 for my daughter would be bows, bows, bows, bows, and BOWS!

Did I mention she loves Bows??

Des is also all over Minnie Mouse right now. Everything Minnie Mouse. I love it because it's a classic. I remember watching Minnie and Mickey growing up and now I am glad that I can share that bond with my daughter.  So why not combine her 2 favorite things?

The image is then sealed so that it won't get ruined.  I love that it's reversed so that little hands can't try to pull it off. The bow is handmade and done so with great care. Minnie Mouse wreath! #Minnie Mouse Birthday Bash

I have found a new love for pinterest recently. I didn't know what all the excitement was about so I had to check it out. well, now I am.. ADDICTED. Yep! I'm in love with pinterest!

I found  tons of craft ideas, recipes to try, and tons and tons of birthday party ideas. Speaking of Birthday ideas...

I came across this HOT Mickey Mouse inspired wreath! Isn't it adorable???? Confessions of a plate addict did an amazing job! It's so nice!!!

Of course I had to create my own! It's too cute not to make! I set out to hobby lobby with my 40% off coupon in hand. I started out by buying  a 12" wreath form, and  225 balloons. Since most of the party stuff is pink, black, and white for Minnie mouse, We choose 3 packs of balloons for  each color.

I started by adding some Minnie mouse ribbon that I already had on hand to it so that I could hang it. Then I set out to attach the balloons.

I tried stapling the balloons to the wreath form, but they didn't hold so then I tried nail glue ( because I have tons of it on hand). The nail glue worked great. I simply glued the balloons to the wreath form in a random pattern.  I didn't cover the back of the wreath mainly because nobody is ever going to see it.. Plus, I would need more balloons to do so.

*At one point I ran out of all the nail glue I had on hand so I tried hot glue.. Hot glue didn't work. It peeled off  instead of holding the balloons in place.

Once all the balloons were attached I  used ribbon to  put the number 4 in the center of a mickey cut out.   I was going to hang this in the center of the wreath, but it just didn't stand out enough.

I wanted to put a stuffed Minnie in it, but I was afriad it would disappear with all the kids running in and out so I then ran out to hobby lobby again to get a wooden letter D (For Destiny). I hung the letter D in the center and then put the mickey cut off to the side.

I taped the mickey cut out on to the balloons so that after the party I can remove it and then hang the wreath in her room.  Afterall, she won't be 4 forever. Though I wish I could make that happen. LOL

Minnie Mouse Inspired nails!

The big day is getting closer and closer. I can't believe my little angel is going to be 4!!! It's bitter sweet! I'm excited for her big day, But part of me is crying inside because she is growing up so fast.

I'm sure you all have noticed my many phases of nail art  in all my photos, but I had to play my part and dress up my nails for the Minnie Mouse Birthday Bash.  I didn't want anything that would stand out too much since I will have the same nail design for the next few weeks, but I wanted something that would also go with her party so I did Minnie Mouse inspired polka dots on my nails.
  Now I have to do Des' nails  and will probably do hers solid pink with white dots.  

Once I have done hers I will make sure to post them for you all to see :)

Hallmark Cupcake Stand Review #Minnie Mouse Birthday Bash

Birthday's can be fun, but the parties can be a ton of work! Luckily I came across this super cute Disney Minnie Mouse Bow-tique Cupcake Stand Party Accessory . It's super cute, matches my party decor, and It's going to save me some time and money!

I love how easy it was to put together!The directions are found on the back of the cardboard piece with the photo on it. It gives step by step directions with pics, so it's easy to follow for all of us.

The bottom two layers have 2 pieces that slide in and lock. You can see that each piece has tabs on the side that help lock and hold it in place.

There are a total of 3 layers. Each of them simply slide in place and the tabs lock it in place. It's pretty simple.

The top layer is a little different though as it is only one piece that sits on the top.  It has slits across the center that allow it to sit across the top of  it.

Once the top piece is in place you can place the Minnie center. It slides through the center groves, which also helps keep the top tier in place as well.

It turns out to be beautiful and my daughter has fallen in love with it. It made her even more excited for her party.

I love how fast it was to put together and how great it looks.  It's going to add a nice touch to the birthday party and as long as Des is happy, I am happy. It's made my party planning a little easier now that I don't have to worry about how I am going to serve all the cupcakes!

The only thing I would change is that the package doesn't state how many cupcakes it can hold. Since it is all made of cardboard, I would assume that you don't want to overload it because it probably can't take all of the weight. I have looked and looked. No site says how many it holds, but many customer reviews state they used 24.. We will see how that goes in just a few days...LOL
