Diva Cup Review + Giveaway!

The DivaCup is a reusable, bell-shaped menstrual cup that is worn internally and sits low in the vaginal canal, collecting rather than absorbing your menstrual flow. Menstrual cups have existed since the 1930s when women were searching for an alternative to the choices of the time. Yet, its breakthrough into the feminine hygiene industry is much more recent.
Many women feel uneasy about changing their menstrual care routine. Years of dealing with the sights and odors of disposable tampons and pads cause the familiar reaction: “ick!”. The DivaCup empowers women to connect with their bodies and menstrual cycles like never before. Perfect for all activities (on air, land or sea), its easy care and use make for a better period experience. Wear The DivaCup for up to 12 hours without leaks or worry.

The DivaCup Features:
  • 12 hour leak-free protection!
  • Made from the highest quality healthcare grade silicone to assure comfort and durability.
  • Does not contain any of the following: latex, plastic, PVC, acrylic, acrylate, BPA, phthalate, elastomer, polyethylene, and free of colors and dyes.
  • Reusable and eco-friendly – no waste, no chemicals.
  • Features extra grip ridges for easier removal.
  • Cleared for marketing by the US FDA and the Australian TGA and the only reusable menstrual cup allowed to be sold in Canada by Health Canada.
  • Diva International Inc. is the only ISO 13485:2003 certified menstrual cup manufacturer and head office in the world!

Size options:

The DivaCup is available in two sizes, Model 1 and Model 2. Your cup size is stamped on the inside rim of the cup. There is a small difference between the two sizes (Model 1 is 1/8″ (~0.3 cm) smaller), but it is important to use the recommended sizing to prevent leakage.

Model 1:Recommended for women under 30 years old who have never delivered vaginally or by caesarean section.

Model 2: Recommended for women over 30 years old and/or for women who have delivered vaginally or by caesarean section.

 When to Empty?
The DivaCup must be emptied, washed and reinserted at least 2 times a day (twice in a 24 hour period) and can be worn overnight without concern of leaking. Most women need only to empty it in the morning and again in the evening.
By monitoring the fullness of the cup over a couple of cycles, you will quickly learn how often to empty it according to your specific needs. Most women find that the cup is not even half full after 12 hours. For those with heavier flows, the cup is simply emptied more often.

The Diva Cup website  did a wonderful job at answering so many of our questions regarding the Diva Cup . Make sure to check it out and  learn some cool facts!

My Thoughts:

I have to admit, I was curious and skeptical at the same time when I first came across the Diva Cup.  I have had the same care routine for years now and the thought of changing it was intimidating, but boy am I glad I did! Diva Cup has allowed me to  continue my morning exercise routine without worries of leakage. I love that I don't have to worry about it at all and that it's super comfortable. I have not experienced any leaks. Actually, If I didn't know it was that time of the month- I would totally  forget. it's really that comfortable!

I love that it's great for women of all ages. I have many years before I have to worry about my duaghter having her first cycle, but I plan to be prepared with the option of a Diva Cup when she does.

With an SRP of $39.99, the Diva Cup can be expensive for some, but honestly it pays for itself over time- saving me hundreds of dollars along the way. Even with coupons, tampons and pads can be expensive and we just toss them out afterwards. I'd much rather use something that is more eco-friendly and in the end - cost friendly as well.

Ok I know what you are all thinking.. It's going to create a mess when you empty it. Trust me, I thought it as well and was very surprised how easy and clean it is.  It's really no different that the mess that a tampon can create. Plus, I get to learn about my body and my cycle in the process.

I hate being a girl at that time of the month, I dread it. Tampons, no matter what size or brand hurt!

I really want a Diva Cup and not have to buy other products over and over. Of all the different kinds of menstrual cups I've looked at on the web, Diva Cup is the one that sounds the best for a variety of reasons. Right now, my family is on a tight budget, so winning one would be so awesome!

Tampons are a strain on time, money, and sexual health. I have a cup but would love one for my little sister! She is open to listening to my lectures constantly (I want to be a sex ed teacher.) I am passionate about health and helping young women and menstrual cups are a HUGE part of that.

I would absolutely LOVE this product! My son always asks me to surf with him when my FRIEND comes to visit. I'm a heavy bleeder, so I'm always nervous about Great White Sharks. We live in N. California in the notorious, "Blood Triangle." If I had one of these I would feel ALOT safer!

I use it and love it! It's wonderful!

I think the Divacup is a good menstrual care option because it holds a large amount of menstrual fluid and comes in different sizes to accomodate everyone. Not to mention, it can be left in far longer than tampons, less noticeable than tampons, no/low risk of TSS, easy to clean and is re-usable for years! I hope I win because I've heard so many great things about this product and I would love to begin my eco-friendly journey with this. I think I should win also because I have been suffering from my period and am desperate for a pain-free alternatives. Thanks for posting!
